No doubt there are a lot of screen capture and on-screen video recording tools available in the software market. However, many of them happen to be hard to use and understand, especially for inexpert users. Fortunately, they count on Icecream Screen Recorder, an innovative tool that allows them to perform both operations in a very simple and practical way.
The program offers a modern and sophisticated user interface that lets you choose the operation you want to perform: video capture or screenshot. As soon as you choose one or another, the program allows you to freely select the area of your screen to be captured, though you can also opt for one of the predefined options like full screen, 720p, 1024x768, 640x480, 320x240 and 160x120 pixels. Next, you can optionally edit your selected area by adding lines, rectangles, ellipses, arrows and texts in a wide variety of colors.
If you selected the screenshot operation, now you can save your selected and modified area as a disk file, copy it to your clipboard or get it directly uploaded to the Icecream.me server, so you can share it with your friends and contacts with ease. If, on the other hand, you selected video capture, you can start/pause/stop the video (and audio) recording, and enable your webcam and optionally include it in your video capture. The program keeps track of all your saved screenshots and video recordings until you remove them individually or clear your entire history, and you can also schedule automatic on-screen video recording tasks at the specified start and end date and times. Unfortunately, the program only supports a few file formats for your screenshots and videos, namely PNG and JPEG for the images, and WebM, MKV and MP4 for the videos.
In conclusion, Icecream Screen Recorder is a simple yet powerful tool that helps you capture your screen either in video or as static images. However, if you require your resulting files to be in formats other than the supported ones, you would need to resource to third-party tools and convert your files manually.
